Phillips Coaching is proud to announce the appointment of Brad Ebert as General Manager of Coaching. With 260 elite AFL games and recent coaching experience at Carlton Football Club, Brad brings invaluable expertise, leadership, and passion to the Phillips Coaching team.
Drafted at pick No.13 in the 2007 NAB AFL Draft, Brad debuted with West Coast as a teenager before enjoying a decorated 13-year AFL career, including 184 games with Port Adelaide. As vice-captain from 2013–2015, he became a cornerstone of Port’s leadership and culture. Since retiring in 2020, Brad has remained deeply connected to the game, serving on Port Adelaide’s Football Sub-Committee before joining Carlton FC in 2023 as Head of Development and Development Coach.
At Carlton FC, Brad’s reputation for fostering culture, selflessness, and driving high standards shone. He played an instrumental role in nurturing emerging talent, reinforcing leadership pathways, and earning the prestigious 2024 Phil Walsh Memorial Scholarship for his unwavering commitment to personal and player growth.
Brad’s appointment aligns seamlessly with Phillips Coaching’s holistic approach – focusing on the mind, body, and craft of every athlete. From Small-Group Craft Mastery to Club Development, Emerging Athlete Academies, and Coach-the-Coaches mentoring, Phillips Coaching empowers athletes to grow not just as players, but as people.
“I’m excited to be joining Phillips Coaching knowing their passion for helping the next generation of athlete through building high standards that focus on their mind, body, and craft” says Brad.
In his new role, Brad will oversee all coaching programs, mentor the next generation of coaches, and strengthen Phillips Coaching’s strategic direction across schools, clubs, and grassroots partnerships.
Phillips Coaching CEO Simon Lloyd said, “Brad’s AFL pedigree, leadership, and growth mindset make him an ideal fit for our organisation. He embodies our values of elite performance grounded in character and genuine care and we’re thrilled to have him join us as a leader who will inspire athletes and coaches alike.”
Brad will officially commence his role as General Manager of Coaching on November 1 and we look forward to welcoming his wife Bec and three kids (Leo, Henry and Myles) to the team.
